The Shanty
Show Preview: Johnny Render, The Suicide Notes, JPG

This Saturday Eureka's Shanty will host a rock extravaganza of epic proportions.
Headlining the event is Johnny Render supporting their recently released record "Rendervoux." The album combines the simplicity of songwriting found in bands like the Ramones with the vocal harmonies and the subtlety of The Carpenters. Render's songs have an easy listening feel, like a stoned version of Guided By Voices.
Moira Scar Performs at The Shanty Friday, May 6th
Moira Scar Interview and Show Preview
Ben Allen, Music Editor
This Friday, Eureka’s Shanty plays host to Bay Area duo Moira Scar. The band is Roxanna Faustus and Gamma Ray (LuLu). Both are multi-instrumentalists and create music they describe as "death-garage rock/freak-jazz/monster-wave." In addition to their often enjoyable, occasionally challenging music Moira Scar adds a unique visual aspect to their shows in the form of "creature costumes."
I asked the band a few questions to find out more about their music and live performance.
Were you eavesdropping on the people behind you in line at the post office? Aww... we know you didn't mean to listen, but did they really just say that? Send it to us and if its funny (or awful) we'll put it in 'The Eavesdroppings' of our next issue. Tell us where you heard it.
Send it here.
