Neon Indian – VEGA INTL. Night School

RJ Rueber, contributor

If you like Daft Punk and The Flaming Lips and would love to see some guys with a MacBook Pro smash ‘em together, then VEGA INTL. Night School is for you!

In fact, the leading single “Slumlord,” even has a Daft Punk helmet on the cover. It’s got that perfect too-hipster-for you attitude, blending nicely with “look mom, I can use audio editing software” undertones. Their mom should be proud, though. The mixes are great and it sounds decent. Most of the songs follow the same formula of space/funk fusion, which gets a little old after a while. A few good songs (the singles, go figure) salvage it, making it worth your time.

VEGA INTL. Night School is a decent listen on your way to or from night school to finally get that associates degree in fine arts.
